The Vaucluse is the 3rd département in France for the production of AOC wines. With nearly 130,000 acres of vineyards and 2.2 million hectoliters of wine, the Vaucluse alone represents more than half of the vineyards of the Rhône Valley (2nd French AOC vineyard in size and production).

More than one third of standard Côtes du Rhône wine is produced in the Vaucluse, along with almost half of the Côtes du Rhône village and Côtes du Rhône vintage wines, including Châteauneuf du Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Beaumes de Venise.
