A growing sector

The South of France is the largest consumer of outdoor plants. A number of specialized organizations and businesses are located here :

  • Seven specialized wholesale markets including the leading cut flower market and the leading outdoor gardening market, which both take place in Carpentras.
    In addition, the opening of a new Gardening Wholesale Market in Carpentras is planned as part of an effort to also become the reference for outdoor gardening markets in
    Southern Europe.

Conditions for success

  • More than 500 researchers of the INRA (National Research Institute for Agronomics) in Avignon and Antibes as well as 5 experimental sites located in Astredhor are specialized in horticultural research.
  • Full training programs are offered in this field of study to respond to the growing needs of the industry (12 different training programs are offered in the region).
